Alvaro is an industrial designer who is committed to creating sustainable solutions that have a positive impact on our world. With his Associates of Interior Design degree in 2010 and his Bachelor of Industrial Design in 2012, he quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned within the product development and design industry.
He co-founded ventures such as Lost Imagination Studios and Caballero Wear, which continue to thrive and disrupt the industry. But that was just the beginning. Alvaro's passion for design knows no bounds, as evidenced by his work designing yachts for prestigious brands such as Bertram, Hatteras, and Donzy Yachts, among others, for five years.
Today, Alvaro is the visionary CEO of Adapt Living, a company that pioneers sustainable technology in construction. But Alvaro's commitment to creating a better world extends beyond his work.
He is an active member of several organizations and causes, including the board of directors of the Los Angeles Arts District, where he leads the community's development through the rebuilding of parks and events. He is also an advisor for the Los Angeles Clean Tech Incubator and the Advanced Prototyping Center.
What inspired you to launch your business and what is the end goal?
For a couple of years I lived traveling around California in a school bus that I built myself. Living in a bus inspired me to design spaces with a purpose of growth as an individual, not with a purpose of cluttering room with cool, but unnecessary things.
The end goal is to be able to simplify the process of building houses and give a variety and accessibility of housing to people.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learnt so far as an entrepreneur?
The problems that you have are just lessons for growth.
What’s the single most important decision that you made, that contributed to your business?
Adapting. I thought to quit on this business so many times, but adapting to difficult circumstances and staying consistent with the vision was the most important.
How do you set yourself apart from other businesses in your industry?
We’re focusing on one issue at a time to create a perfect composition of technologies that will make building houses more efficient and sustainable.
